Beşiktaş Chairman Çebi's Message for April 2023

Dear Beşiktaş Fans,

The recent earthquake disasters that devastated a part of our country and cost thousands of lives have deeply saddened us all.  As Beşiktaş community, in order to reduce the sufferings in the region, we continue the relief work with all our strength. Being able to contribute in these days of such difficulties is a responsibility that we have accepted as a duty since the first day we assumed office. In addition to delivering relief goods with Beşiktaş aid trucks and establishing a number of tent cities in the affected cities, we have decided to urgently build schools for the earthquake-survived children. We cannot abandon these children to their unfortunate fate because they are the future of our country. I have no doubt that every Beşiktaş fan will put a brick in these education nests by taking part in our upcoming fund raising campaign.

On 8 March, we celebrated the International Women's Day by coming together with our women employees under the roof of the club. Even in the developed world, when the women's rights were just beginning to be discussed, the founders of Turkish Republic gave the Turkish women the right to be elected and vote. As we enter the second century of our Republic, we must stand more firmly behind these rights. We must also support women with all our strength so that they can be rewarded for their work in all areas of social life.

The Dardanelles Victory, which we marked on March 18, was the first step towards the establishment of our modern Turkish Republic. With this opportunity, I express my sincere gratitude to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms who made it happen.

In the month of March, while Beşiktaş JK reached 120 years of existence, Beşiktaş fans from all over the world shouted in unison: “Not just one day, but forever Beşiktaş!” on World Beşiktaş Day.

Upon the advice of our men’s football team coaches, we parted ways with Wout Weghorst, Josef de Souza and Tyler Boyd. We  also loaned Francisco Montero, Emrecan Uzunhan and Oğuzhan Aygün to other team as part  their development. We strengthened our current squad by adding Amir Hadžiahmetović, Alexandru Maxim, Vincent Aboubakar, Onur Bulut and Omar Colley. These changes have paying off handsomely as the team started climbing up the table.

Our Under-23 World Champion wrestler Nesrin Baş, added a new achievement to her glittering resume and became the European U-23 champion. Another Beşiktaş wrestler, Ebru Dağbaşı, won the bronze medal in the same tournament. We are proud of our girls who hoisted our flag and made Europe listen to our National Anthem.

We got the first trophy of this season in men’s  handball, where we went through  new structuring and gave more opportunities to our young players. As a result, our Beşiktaş Yurtbay Seramik team won the Turkish  Cup and gave us plenty to be cheerful about.

During the month of holy Ramadan, I wish everyone good health, happiness, peace and tolerance.
