The Black Eagles picked up prolific striker Şenol Birol (born 1937 in Rize) from Sarıyer SK in 1959. During his 4 seasons in the Turkish League, he scored 75 goals. He holds the club record for “Most Goals Scored in Single Season” with his 34 goals in 1962-63 season. After his retirement from active football, Şenol Birol took up coaching and managed various Turkish teams.
