In their UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round first leg, the home side Beşiktaş started with early pressure and gained additional power after Friday Etim got sent off for a rough tackle. The extra man paid its dividends in the 26th-minute when Orkun Kökçü slotted a classy right-footed shot into the top corner from outside the box and put Beşiktaş a goal up. In the remainder of the half, Black Eagles had plenty of chances to increase their lead, but the score stood at 1-0 for Beşiktaş going into the break.
