Signing ceremony for new Beşiktaş Head Coach Solskjaer

A signing ceremony was held at Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium for the Norwegian Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was appointed as the head coach of Beşiktaş men’s football team.

In his speech at the ceremony, Beşiktaş Chairman Serdal Adalı said:

"We are gathered here today to make a fresh start.  We are delighted to appoint Mr. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the new head coach of our men’s football team. It will be pleasure to work with someone who has  achieved great success and won many championships throughout his playing and coaching career. As he left his last assignment, Mr. Solskjaer said, "I will return to the pitch when there is a project that I will be excited about." Now he is as ready for this challenge as we are.

Our team currently need restructuring, and we will implement it in stages. During this period, we will make use of Solskjaer’s portfolio of young and promising players as well as his experience of working with stars. We are also aiming to win all our remaining games and create next season’s title contender.

We told our new coach what kind of team we wanted to see on the pitch. We explained that Beşiktaş fans want to see a team that play attacking football and never stops fighting on the field. We are confident that the Beşiktaş, we all miss badly, will be back on the pitch real soon.

While our coach and his assistants do their job on the pitch, my administration will be their biggest helpers. Our decisions will be made by consensus and professionals.  However, since we get all our  strength from our fans, every member of Beşiktaş community must remain in solidarity and unity. We must also be realistic and patient during this transitional time.

I wish our new head coach and his assistants good luck and success in their missions.”

New Beşiktaş head coach  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thanked Beşiktaş Chairman  Serdal Adalı for his wishes and made the following statement:

"During our meetings, Chairman Serdal Adalı touched our hearts.  We agreed to make a fresh start here.  When I was away from football as a coach, I worked at UEFA. I had the chance to follow Beşiktaş during this time. I am proud to be working in a well-established club like Beşiktaş.

I know what our fans want. We will work hard to give them what they want.  Besiktas deserve victories, and I'm here to win games. On the other hand, as our Chairman just said, we will be realistic and patient. We will take the right steps. Then the results will come.

Everyone I've met so far has made me feel very warm. My days in Istanbul were wonderful. While the negotiations were going on, I studied the team and created reports.  Now it's time to get to work."
