Beşiktaş applied pressure from the kick-off and peppered Galatasaray goal-keeper Muslera with a barrage of shots from all angles throughout the first half but failed to beat the Uruguayan International who made several clutch saves to keep the Black Eagles at bay. The visitors unexpectedly took the lead on 54 minutes through Sneijder, but Beşiktaş regrouped quickly and struck back with Mario Gomez just a minute later. Then, super sub Gökhan Töre put the Eagles 2-1 in front at the 74th-minute mark, thanks to a brilliant finish. Galatasaray desperately searched for the equaliser in the remainder of the the derby match but to no avail.
