In their chase for the promotion, the Third Division side Beşiktaş women’s football team edged past close followers Akdeniz Nurçelik 2-1 at home on Sunday. With a starting line-up of Müge İnan, Merve Nalçacı, Yeliz Açar, Ayşe Şevval Ay, Buse Budak, Sevilay Saygı, Duygu Yıldız, Bilgesu Koyun, Gamze Koçer, Gizem Gönültaş and Ayşe Nihal Üçerler, the Lady Black Eagles led 1-0 at the half on a goal by Gamze Koçer. The visitors evened up the score in the second half, but spurred on by a vocal home crowd, Beşiktaş regained the lead through Gizem Gönültaş down the stretch and grabbed all three points. Beşiktaş currently sit in second place with 7 wins out of 9 matches.
