After an evenly balanced half hour, the home side Beşiktaş had some decent chances to take the lead, but the first 45 minutes ended goalless. With the start of the second half, the Black Eagles upped the pressure yet had to wait until the 89th minute for the winner which would keep them in title contention. When Eskişehirspor defence failed to clear Gökhan Töre’s free-kick, defender Ersan Gülüm controlled the ball near the 6-yard box and buried it into the back of the net to give Beşiktaş that desperately needed three points.
