Biography
Portuguese centre-forward Hugo Almeida (born 23 May 1984) was discovered by FC Porto but had long loan spells with U.D. Leiria, Boavista FC and Werder Bremen. After a solid season at Bremen, he decided to accept the German team’s offer for a permanent switch and penned a 4-year deal with the Bundesliga side, where he won the German and League Cups. With a senior debut against England in 2004, Almeida, played at every age group in international competitions, which included 2004 Summer Olympics and Euro 2008.
