“It is a sad day for Turkish Football. Derby matches are always more heated and emotional, but as the visiting team, we’ve witnessed some real unwanted scenes at Kadiköy tonight. Unfortunately, unruly crowd behaviour has overshadowed the otherwise an exciting Turkish Cup Semi-Finals second leg. Following multiply delays in the first half, our Manager Şenol Güneş was struck by an object thrown from the Fenerbahçe crowd at the outset of the second half. Then, fearing their safety, the referee sent our team back to the dressing room and abandoned the game. Mr. Güneş was immediately hospitalised and needed several stitches for his head wound. For precaution, he will spend the night at the hospital. The stadium security didn’t do their job properly because the unfortunate incidents continued in the corridors. We leave the decision on this game to the Turkish Football Federation.”
