Having lost most of their key players to injuries, the Black Eagles were unproductive throughout the first half and endured a lot of pressure from their visitors. The English Premier Division side kept the game under control but failed to create clear-cut chances. The teams went into the half-time break with a goalless draw.
 
Beşiktaş looked more offensive after the restart and got their reward in the 59th minute when Cenk Tosun tucked in Olcay Şahan’s neat pass from inside the 6-yard box. Tottenham pressed for the equaliser in the remainder match but were unable to break down the Eagles’ resolute defence.
