Black Eagles fall to Alignsas in CL return match

Alignsas HK vs. Beşiktaş Mogaz 27:24

Making most of their home-court advantage, the Swedish champions avenged Sunday’s two-goal loss to Beşiktaş in Istanbul tonight but had to work real hard for it.  The visiting Black Eagles of Istanbul started the game with line-up of Yunus, Şenol, Nincevic, Dacevic, Ozan, Zrnic, Tolga, and thanks to a number of brilliant saves from their goalkeeper, were only down by two goals, 14-12, at the intermission.

Beşiktaş Mogaz pushed to erase the deficit at the outset of the second half, only to see Swedish side’s experienced keeper Aggefors keep them at bay every time they got too close. Nevertheless, as the teams traded goals, the margin remained intact until the 40th minute when Erwin Perez and Ivan Nincevic both received two-minute penalties that allowed Alignsas to take control and surge ahead 19-15. Beşiktaş managed to pull within two goals in the dying minutes, but again, late penalties cost them dearly. With the loss, the Black Eagles moved back to the last place in the Group B standings.
