Eagles remain top after five-goal thriller in Ankara

Beşiktaş 3-2 Sivasspor

On Turkish Super Lig Matcday 6, the Black Eagles started the game at Ankara Osmanlı Stadium brightly and created a flurry of early chances, but all their attempts to break the deadlock were fruitless. Then, with five minutes to go in the first half, Manuel da Costa put the Sivasspor in front 1-0 through a running effort off Cicinho’s corner-kick.

In search of a quick equaliser, Beşiktaş came out the gates flying after the restart and levelled the matters on 58 minutes through Demba Ba’s close-range finish. Just seven minutes later, the Senegalese striker would drill home his second goal of the night and fire the Eagles ahead, 2-1, with another brilliant strike from near the penalty spot. Having given up the lead, Sivasspor began to push forward more and managed to even up the scores at 2-2 in the 74th minute when Hakan Arslan found the net from inside the box. However, the Black Eagles were in no mood to settle for a draw as Olcay Şahan buried the man-of-the-match Ba’s back-heel pass into the Sivasspor’s net after 79 minutes and earned Beşiktaş a hard-fought 3-2 victory. The undefated Black and Whites currently sit at the top of the League table with 14 points after 6 matches.
