Eagles’ fourth-quarter rally fall short in Eurocup opener

Beşiktaş Integral Forex 68-70 Union Olimpija

The Black Eagles made a cold start into their home game in Group D and were down 19-12 at the end of the first quarter. Despite struggling from behind the arc, they played better defence in the second stanza, only to face a 33-24 deficit at the break.

Hitting most of their 3-pointers, the Slovenian team stretched the gap to 52-36 after the third quarter, but when Lofton and Broekhoff began connecting from outside, they saw their lead dwindle to 64-61 with a minute left to play. Nevertheless, the visitors made better use of the dying seconds to escape from the Integral Arena with a narrow victory. Beşiktaş’ Jajuan Johnson led all scorers with 20 points while Sasu Salin poured in 13 points for the Union Olimpija.
