Beşiktaş Cola Turka 85, Tofaş 79

Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball sneaked past visiting Tofaş, 85-79, in Week 27’s game at Cola Turka Arena.

After jumping out to an 8-5 lead, the Eagles were in front most of the opening quarter, but the visitors used the scoring of Rowe closed the gap to one, 12-11 with 2:05 left on the clock. The Black and Whites were in no mood of getting caught as Oglivy and Ignerski turned it on to give them a 21-13 first-quarter advantage. Thanks to string of unanswered buckets by Ignerski and Cüneyt Erden, Beşiktaş Cola Turka pushed the margin into double digits, 40-25, in the second quarter, only to see Tofaş hit back with a 10-0 spurt to pull within five, 40-35, entering the final minute. Nevertheless, a couple of late layups gave the Eagles a 44-35 edge at the half.  
The third quarter saw Kemp and Chatman leading the way for the Eagles, while the visitors tried to stay close with Can Altıntığ and Orçun. It was 64-54 for Beşiktaş Cola Turka entering the final stanza. The home team poured it all out in the fourth and led as many as by 24 points, but Fırat sparked a late Tofaş rally to help bring his team within five with a minute remaining in the game. However, the Black and Whites refused the visitors to get any closer as they ran out 85-79 victors.   

Game’s Special Guests

To mark the Autism Week, the players of Anka Autism Sports Club watched the game with their families and presented the coaches with flowers.

Among the spectators were the Belgian City Limburg’s Governor Herman Reynders and his wife, who happened to be in town through Belgian and Turkish Friendship Association’s organization. They each received a Beşiktaş jersey from Beşiktaş Board Member Responsible for Amateur sports Şeref Yalçın.
