Beşiktaş 2 – 2 Gençlerbirliği

On Day 29 of the Turkish Super League, Beşiktaş were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Gençlerbirliği.

Roared on by the enthusiastic home crowd, the Eagles started brightly and created most of the early chances. But they had to the wait until the 27th minute to break the deadlock. A brilliant pass from Ismail found Simao Sabrosa in plenty of space, his low effort beat visitors’ goalkeeper Özkan Karabulut and gave Beşiktaş a 1-0 lead, which would hold through the remainder of the first half.
The early part of the second half saw the Eagles doubling their lead with a header from defender İbrahim Toraman on 52 minutes. But from there on, the visitors mounted a sterling comeback, and Michael Jedinac pulled one back at the 62nd-minute mark. The goal brought Gençlerbirliği right back into the game as they started increasing their attacks for the equaliser. They would get their reward in the 72nd minute when Mustafa Pektemek leveled the scores with a fine strike. Beşiktaş tried desperately to regain the lead in the remaining minutes but failed to find the back of the net and settled for a 2-2 draw.
