Beşiktaş 1-4 Dynamo Kiev

In their Europa League Second Round first leg match, Beşiktaş went down 4-1 to Dynamo Kiev at Fiyapı Inonu Stadium.

With pressure from both flanks through Quaresma and Hilbert, the Eagles had the majority of possessions early on but could not overcome Dynamo Kiev’s dogged defence. As the match moved on, the Ukrainians balanced the play and pulled ahead with a Vukojevic goal that silenced the fans on 27 minutes. However, Beşiktaş would get over the shock quickly as Quaresma brought the teams back on level terms with a low effort from just outside the area at the 37th-minute mark. The teams carried a 1-1 draw into half time break.
Even though they looked to be the better side at the outset of the second half, the Black and White fell a goal behind once again after 5 minutes, courtesy of a header from Shevchenko. The second goal took the wind of Beşiktaş’s sails and led to a quick third one as Yussuf would make it 3-1 for the visitors six minutes later. Pushing everyone forward, the Eagles created some clear-cut chances to narrow the gap in the remaining minutes, but Almedia and Bobo generously wasted them. A Gusev penalty coming in injury-time wrapped up the scoring as Dynamo ran out 4-1 winners to take a comfortable advantage into the second leg in Ukraine.
