Stating that Beşiktaş is the only team that has beaten Foppapedretti Bergamo despite being disqualified from the Championship League,  Beşiktaş Women’s Volleyball Coach Cengiz Göllü said “Whole Europe heard of the name of Beşiktaş”.

Beaten in the first match with the score 3-0 in Italy, Beşiktaş beat Foppapedretti Bergamo in Istanbul 3-1 in the competition for qualifying for quarterfinals in the Indesit European Women’s Championship League and became the only team that beat the Italian team in the Championship League.
Expressing that Beşiktaş has had very important gains despite being disqualified from the Championship, Coach Cengiz Göllü had the following to say:
“Beşiktaş has played in the Championship League for the first time. We have completed quite successful matches. We have completed 6 matches in our group competitions with the score 3-2. Nobody was thinking that we could win any single set. In the semi final we were mached with Bergamo and our team which had missing players lost the first match in Italy with the score 3-0. That score caused us to be disqualified. Before the Bergamo match, I told my players to show Europe that there is good volleyball in Turkey and motivated them such that they would win. We played in discipline and won. We became the only team that has beaten Bergamo in the Championship League. This victory will find reverberations in the whole Europe. We could not qualify for the first four however we plaled good matches. Beşiktaş’s name has been heard all over Europe. This was important in that respect. We are done with Europe this year. We are aiming at the finals in Turkey.”
