“In accordance with a decision we took this morning as Beşiktaş Board of Directors, we parted our ways with Mr. Del Bosque. I would first of all like to thank Mr. Del Bosque. He has a great career and is a very valuable coach. Beşiktaş Club took a step towards becoming a world club with him. But unfortunately we couldn’t bring sporting success. In Turkey, events are assessed by rather sporting success. We parted our ways through negotiations as he, too, concurred.”
Our President Demirören, underscoring that they entered into an agreement with a coach who will capture the target of Champions League, went on to say the following:
“What Beşiktaş had to do now was to go back to their own structure, to their native son and to enter into an agreement with a coach who will capture the target of the next Champions League. Now the target of Beşiktaş is to capture the Champions League, to chase the championship and next year out target is to create the young Beşiktaş which is successful in Europe and successful in Turkish leagues together with our Coach Rıza.”
The new Coach Rıza Çalımbay touched upon following points in his speech he started saying that he was very happy:
“I am very happy because everything in my soccer life started and ended here. I played soccer in Beşiktaş for 20 years. I started in the junior team and I left at the top level. I lived through many championships. I am so happy to come back here. First of all, we will try to be worthy of Beşiktaş. Here, the support of our fans and our community is very important. I believe that we will carry Beşiktaş to happy days within unity. There is a good roster, I am very happy with the roster. We are handed over the team from a very valuable coach. I trust my own team very much as well.”
