Men’s basketball makes it two in a row at the Turkish Cup with a narrow win over Banvit.
The Black Eagles started cold and fell behind, 20-13, after one quarter of play. Thanks to an early barrage of jumpers by Deron Williams, they got back on tract in the second and took a 37-33 lead into the break. The second half was a real seesaw battle with Beşiktaş ahead, 60-54, after three. The tight affair continued in the final stanza, but a late surge sparked by Hawkins’ three-pointer helped the Eagles escape with a 75-73 victory.
Deron Williams scored a team-high 17 points, followed by Semih Erden (13) and Hawkins (12).
